SAD CASE OF DROWING. Yesterday afternoon, a little son of
Mr. John M. Francisco, clerk at the Confederate prison, on Cary street fell into
the Dock, near the prison, and was drowned. We are informed that one of the
prisoners saw the little boy fall into the water, and giving the alarm, proposed
to jump into the Dock and save him, but the sentinel, with strict adherence to
duty, refused to allow him to go to his relief, and ere others could do so, the
little fellow had lost his life. We deeply sympathize with the afflicted parents
in their sad bereavement.
