Courts-Martial. – Col. Paul F. Faison, of the 56th
North Carolina regiment, has been acquitted by a Court-Martial of neglect of
duty, in allowing his regiment to be surprised by the enemy, at Gum Swamp, near
Kinston, on the 23d of May. At the time alluded to, about one hundred of his
regiment were captured by the Yankees.
Lieut. J. W. Gilliam, of Johnston (Va.) Artillery,
stationed at Drewry’s Bluff, has been sentenced to a suspension of pay and loss
of command, and to be confined within the limits of the camp, for absence
without leave.
