From the National Tribune, 11/4/1897
Serg’t S. E. Skinner, Co. I, 98th N. Y., West
Brighton, N. Y., has as a walking stick his old flute which he carried with him
during his three-years’ service. When Comrade Skinner was taken prisoner his
flute went with him to Libby. He gained the good graces of the prison
authorities to such an extent that he was taken to see Jeff. Davis.
