The New Senate Chamber. – We ought, perhaps, to call
it the old Senate Chamber, dressed up in a new suit; but, at all events, the
room wherein the Senate of Virginia now deliberates is in all respects a
handsome and pleasant apartment. It is removed from the noisy excitement of the
rotunda, and is fitted up with due regard to taste and comfort. The reportorial
conveniences are especially noticeable, and we think all hands like it better
than the room now given up to Congress. It is a pleasure to record a fact of
this kind in connection with the Senate of Virginia and its officers, whose
courtesy to the reporters contrasts very favorably with the surly behavior of
some officials with whom we have unfortunately come in contact, professionally,
from time to time.
