From the Richmond Whig, 11/3/1863
Boone, the Castle Thunder Murderer. – The Norfolk
correspondent of the New York Herald, says that Boone, one of the prisoners who
escaped from Castle Thunder, week before last, and murdered the sentinel, Sutton
Byrd, of North Carolina, arrived within the Yankee lines, at Williamsburg, on
the 26th ult. The circumstances of their escape have already been
published.
When the party got outside the limits of Richmond, they
separated, each taking the course best calculated for his safety. Boone reached
his destination in safety, but the rest of the party have not yet been heard
from. It is hoped all will yet be brought to condign punishment.
