From the Richmond Sentinel, 10/23/1863
Yankee Prisoners. - There are now confined upon
Belle Isle 10,500 prisoners, while nearly every factory and store-house in the
lower part of the city is filled with them to the utmost capacity, and
accessions are daily being made to their number, far exceeding those sent North
by flag of truce boats.
