Gen. Pettigrew. – The body of this gallant soldier
and accomplished gentleman was received yesterday at the Fredericksburg depot,
by Col. French, Aid to the Governor of Virginia, and taken to the Capitol, where
it lay in state all night. The military escort was composed of the State Guard
and the 1st regiment Virginia Reserves. It will be removed to the
Southern train of this morning, en route for Raleigh. Detailed for escort –
State Guard, Lieut. Gay, and Co. G, 1st regiment State Reserves,
Capt. Conrad.
