To Miss M. M. Wharton

For rent of room, used as lodgings for one month from Jany 1st to the 31st [1864] inclusive   $30.00

(The above has been altered from 20 to $30)

 

I certify that the above alteration was made by me, the sum of $20 heretofore paid being insufficient to obtain quarters of a respectable character for this matron.
