CASES AT THE CASTLE. – Peter Bowman, a supposed spy, but
withal a supposed crazy man, and a resident of Chesterfield county, was received
at the Castle on Thursday night, forwarded by Colonel Miner, in command of the
military post at Farmville. Yesterday Bowman changed his name, and answered to
any thing else than the name under which he was he was registered. John Edwards,
alias John Tales, captured from the enemy as a prisoner of war, was recognized
as a deserter from the third Georgia battalion. He deserted, took the oath of
allegiance, and entered the ranks of the invader. – He was remanded to the
Castle for trial by court martial, and the question is one of life or death with
him.
John H. Marr, citizen, was committed upon a charge of
treason.
