From the Richmond Dispatch, 3/29/1862, p. 2, c. 2

Castle Godwin. All the prisoners who were recently carried away from this place and put in the C. S. military prison, on Cary street, have been removed back to the Castle, on account of the crowded condition of the military prison, there being now there, including Yankees, Western Virginia Union traitors, and others, over 700 men to be supposed in idleness by the Government.
