Prisoners of War. – We understand that the flag of
truce steamer, with 240 released prisoners, under charge of detective officers
Woodall and Clackner, will leave Richmond for Newport News on Friday morning.
The Yankee Government having initiated this system of exchange, has doubtless
come to regard the cause of the South as something more than that of a “people
in rebellion.” A few more “thrashings” will humble the crest of the American
buzzard sufficiently, without any outside interference.
Two Federal soldiers, belonging to the 23d Pennsylvania
regiment, were brought to this city yesterday morning. We learn that they were
captured in the neighborhood of Leesburg.
