Live Yankees. -
Such a rush as there is to the windows of the hotels on
every few days when the Yankee prisoners are marshaled through the town, one
would think live Yankees must have undergone some wonderful transformation of
late. Do the ladies and children, who are so eager to get a peep at them, expect
to see them armed with wings? or
rather, perhaps, with horns and hoofs! Yankees have been common enough among us,
heaven knows, and plenty are still left, who require to be somewhat carefully
tended. By the way, would it not be as well to divide our prisoners among the
hospitable inhabitants of our larger towns, now that they are getting so
abundant among us.
