...Association...

GEN’L H. C. HOBART, PRESIDENT

COL. S. A. URQUHART, V. PRES.

MAJOR R. C. KNAGGS, SEC’Y

West Pillston Dec 31/04

My dear friend Harris

I understand you are going south on Thursday - I suppose of course you will meet a good many who wore the Gray as I did the Blue. Shake hands and tell them your old friend has buried the Hatchet handle and all good and deep. The cut on this letter head shows the tunnel through which 109 of us escaped. I was the 93 man who passed through at 3 o’clock in the morning Feb 10 - 1864 = 59 got home 48 were retaken 2 were drowned at grapevine Bridge. I was one of the 48.

The man who cut the bust of Lincoln on the dungeon wall was Capt. Fisher.

I am yours truly

S. A. Urquhart

322 Park St.
